Hillsboro Pinelands is the historic headwaters of both the Hillsboro River and Cypress Creek. This unique preserve offers both wet and upland habitats, which include a cypress dome swamp, depression marsh, pine flatwoods and wet/dry meadows.

The Take Root Forest Learning Community’s Heartwood Core Classes provide educational enrichment and experience designed to support homeschooling for children ages 5 and up. Core subjects are integrated into the Forest Flow – weaving academic fundamentals into the outdoor learning experience. As the earth moves around the sun, the classes follow the rhythm of the seasons – bringing the core subjects to life through nature and outdoor experiences.
