Experiential Discovery & Learning for Homeschool
Using themes of learning inspired by the seasons and what the students are curious about, a multi-subject curriculum emerges. The children and teachers engage together as they learn – using lessons, activities and projects. As the earth moves around the sun, the classes follow the rhythm of the seasons – bringing learning to life through nature and outdoor experience.

Discover the workings of the world through experience – exploration, discovery and play.

Each class is experiential – meaning all the senses of the learner are engaged. Experiential Learning is the process of learning by doing. By engaging students in hands-on experiences and reflection, they are better able to connect theories and knowledge learned to real-world situations.
Outdoor learning delivers many benefits — reduced stress, improved moods, boosts in concentration, and increases engagement in activities and lessons.
The Take Root Forest Learning Community participants learn about where they live, thus developing a sense of self and place – encouraging stewardship and a positive relationship to nature and community.
