The Take Root Forest Learning Community is thrilled to re-introduce Forest Fridays: Nature Seekers specialty classes for homeschooling children, ages 5 and up – taking place on various Fridays in Coastal Natural Areas & Parks of South Florida. The Take Root Forest Learning Community’s Forest Fridays Specialty Classes offer instruction and experience designed to support homeschooling for children, ages 5 and up.

Forest Fridays are centered around ecological themes that are brought to life through experiential learning, outdoor exploration, eco-literacy & stewardship, songs & stories, games & play.
Students will explore, discover and learn the intricacies of S. Florida ecosystems. Through observations and discussion they will experience the effects of nature and humans on the ever-changing ecology – building awareness of their Sense of Place and the Interconnectedness of these systems!

Nature Seekers by the SEA in Broward & Dade!
This ocean seeking class is a hands-on/real time exploration of the Florida coastal ecosystem – the plants and animals, microorganisms, weather, current, and tides. Discussions will include the effects of nature and humans on the ever-changing ecology.
Place-based activities, songs, projects and mindfulness by the sea…a unique opportunity right along the shore of the Atlantic Ocean.
The class will move through Seasonal Themed Units, each class day will cover a topic that fits into the Seasonal Theme. Through exploration, discovery and learning, the class will gain a deeper understanding of the workings of the coastal ecosystems and how to relate in a positive and healthy way in that system.

Class Costs Nature Seekers by the Sea Fridays 8 Payments, September-April $178 per payment per child 10% Sibling Discount Commitment October-May Register Stand Alone or Add On Enrollment Costs need to be paid in advance and are separate from Class Costs Families are able to use Step Up – UA & PEP Funds Enrollment Costs The Enrollment Costs allow for budgeting, planning of class roster, curriculum and training of the team. One program t-shirt per child is included. Enrollment Costs are not part of the Class Costs and are non-refundable and non-transferable. Enrollment Fee $300 first child Sibling Supplies Fee $150 per sibling The Enrollment Fee is good for the duration of the Forest Year and is non-refundable and non-transferable. The Supplies Fee for the first child is included in the Enrollment Fee, there is an additional supplies fee per sibling. The Supplies Fee is good for the duration of the Forest Year and is non-refundable and non-transferable. The Take Root Forest Learning Community participants learn about where they live, thus developing a sense of self and place – encouraging stewardship and a positive relationship to nature and community.
